View patient communication authorizations
Navigate to the Patient Profile to view the Patient Info section. The "Communication Authorizations" section should reflect the communication methods that the patient has consented to:
If you are attempting to contact the patient through a method of communication and are unable to send the message, it's likely that you are using an unauthorized communication method.
Checking on communication consents
Before changing the authorized communication methods for the patient, be sure they have signed the consent forms necessary. You can view existing consent forms by navigating to the far-right of the timeline filters and clicking "Consent Forms":
If the patient does not have the correct consent forms on file, you can add them to the patient profile in one of two ways. First, you can have the patient e-sign the form from the More Menu (three dots):
Or, from the same menu above, click "Upload Attachment" and take a picture of a completed paper consent form. When uploading, be sure to select "Patient Consent" under the "File Type" option:
Edit or set communication authorizations
To set or edit the authorized communication methods for the patient, click "Edit" from within the Patient Info section (pictured above). You will then be able to edit and save the information in the patient's Contact Info section:
Once you have updated the information, click "Update Patient Info".
You will now be able to communicate with the patient based on their authorized preferences.
